On Friday 12th July 70 Year 9 students were lucky enough to have the chance to participate in a Sculpture workshop which enabled them to make animals out of Willow.
The Mid-Somerset Arts Society kindly raised money for Arts projects in schools and we were one of the lucky schools this year. They paid for Willow Artist Sophie Courtiour to spend a day with our Year 9 Fine Art students where each of them made an animal. We had a squirrel, horse head, butterfly, dragonfly, seated fox, a number of deer and dogs as well as a wide variety of other animals. It was an ambitious project and students had to dig deep to maintain the resilience needed all day for quite a challenging activity, students who did this were well rewarded with beautiful sculptures.
Students also have the opportunity to come back after school on Tuesday to complete these sculptures. Thank you to Barbara French from the Arts Society and Sophie Courtiour.
