Crispin School

Crispin Derby Match

On Wednesday 15 May Crispin held its very own Derby match which saw our Year 11 team play our Year 10 team.
With an eagerly excited crowd of students, staff and parents the tension was building, the stage was set for one of these students to become a hero for their entire year group.
The game started cagily, with the Year 10s having most possession of the ball but the Year 11s having some chances from set pieces, which ultimately would prove telling in the end.
The minutes ticked by as the Year 10s worked the ball around the box, getting shots off but not really testing Sheldon Masters in Goal.
Charlie was also immense at the back winning physical battle after physical battle against multiple Year 10s.
After a few missed chances from Year 10 the halftime whistle went.
Team talks delivered and a huge tactical change for year 11 bringing Zak on upfront. He instantly added physicality which made the game a much more even contest.
In the final minutes of the game after yet more chances missed, Year 11 found themselves with a throw in, with the throw taken, and the ball delivered into the box, the ‘Hero’ was decided, Zak took his chance and the ball flew into the corner of the goal, resulting in incredible scenes with the Year 11s in raptures.
After incredible celebrations, the game restarted but almost as it did the final whistle went.
The entire PE Department can honestly say it was a privilege to watch 27 boys in Years 10 and 11, put on a show of football, passion and jubilation.
So a massive congratulations to the Year 11 boys on a hard fought win, and good luck with the rest of your exams.
