MSC - Teacher Training
The Mid Somerset Consortium is a well-established consortium of schools which work together to offer excellence in teacher training. In January 2013 we were inspected by Ofsted and graded as ‘Outstanding’ in all areas.
“The overall quality of the training is outstanding, enabling trainees to exceed the expectations of the Teachers’ Standards by the end of the training. Trainees leave the course equipped with the knowledge and competences required for a successful NQT year. Outstanding training successfully combines school-based training with an excellent range of complementary professional studies workshops and subject knowledge ‘upgrade’ sessions, all designed to prepare trainees for their teaching and wider professional role in schools.”
We offer training in most secondary subjects through DfE allocated places or all subjects for those people who train whilst employed as unqualified teachers by a school (self-funded). To see this year’s training places please visit http://www.mscitt.co.uk/News/2015-16-Places-Now-available/
Trainees are placed in a ‘home school’ where they will spend most of their time supported by a subject mentor and an Initial Teacher Training Coordinator. Professional training is every Tuesday. The training is delivered in schools and at the MSC training facilities at Crispin School in Street. We draw on a wide range of expertise from within our partnership and employ specialised educational trainers, who together, deliver an outstanding programme of professional development. Trainees have a ‘second school’ experience after Christmas to gain insight into education in a different context.
We welcome all inquiries from prospective trainees. We are a small, highly professional and friendly team who are happy to offer advice on teacher training and answer any questions.
